Update: The Council have decided not to sell the greenspace! Further info here... For many years people have been enjoying the greenspace at the bottom of Broomhill Avenue. People exercise their dogs, children play cricket, and the entire outlook of the street is greatly enhanced by the green area. However, it has recently come to our attention that Glasgow City Council has listed the greenspace for sale as a potential development opportunity. As the residents of Broomhill Avenue, we are opposed to the sale of this land, which is a heavily-used communal amenity. We do not want local children to be deprived of their cricket and football, and we do not want the lives of all residents to be negatively impacted by an unwanted development. The West End is a special area, partially because of greenery provided by areas such as this. We cannot allow the enduring character of the West End to be dimished, and it is vital that we retain the character to pass on to future generations. We would ask everyone to support us in our campaign to prevent Glasgow City Council from selling this land.
We are collecting a range of photos and pictures showing the trees and greenspace area. You can view the photos here - and if you have any of your own, please get in touch with us. |
